Gorgeous sisters – this was such a fun session! Both are graduates of Palos Verdes High School, Christine is studying English and creative writing at University of California, Berkeley and Haley is working locally for Guess after graduating from Santa Clara University just recently. We shot these just wandering around Palos Verdes Estates on a finally sunny afternoon a week or so ago.

What to Wear

Black and Khaki for summer… casual and classic.
Traditional colors that have been worn for photos for years and years, right?
But why not add some fun and a little attitude to this traditional color combination?
Do it for the whole family but mix it up with patterns and textures.
This avoids that matchy matchy look, but still looks amazing and pulled together.
You notice I have the mom dressed head to toe in a similar tone?
This is a very slimming look and I know us moms always want to look our slimiest in pictures, don’t we!
Have some fun with your family photos shoots this summer, play with your color combinations.

Book {for my Dad}

I made my Dad the best present for Father’s Day this year. I finally got around to make a great book of our trip to the Dominican Republic last year. It was 60 pages full of fun snapshots and memories. He absolutely loved it, and said it was the best gift we had ever given him. Photo books make a terrific gift and preserve your memories forever – plus, you don’t have to figure out where to put them on your walls!

Sarah’s mom won the highest bid for a photo session with me at the Soleado Elementary School silent auction last fall – we have been trying to make this session happen for a while! Well worth the wait – Sarah was an absolute delight! She was so fun to photograph. So smart too… she speaks three languages!

One of my favorite little guys… Isn’t he yummy? This little baby wants me want to have another one. He has gotten so big! I could post so many more favorites, but I keeping this short and sweet so I can keep catching up on all my sessions lately!

He was so tired, but I got one last smile before he settled down for a nap.

So much fun! This was a surprise for Dad for Father’s Day – I felt like a stalker waiting for his car to pull out of the driveway so I could go in. Kai played the piano for me, ran around the yard, cuddled with Mom a bit, played with bubbles, and I got lots of great images. Baby Zaia was incredibly good – although she was really awake for most of it, she was good natured and happy. I seriously can’t even believe that she was born recently – her Mom looked absolutely amazing!

Ian just graduated from Palos Verdes High School, and is headed to the University of California, Berkeley in the fall. He is currently enjoying an awesome trip to Europe – I am very jealous that he is having a great time in Germany right now! Don’t you think he is a ringer for Chris Pine from the Star Trek movie?

Where to start on this family? They are just amazing. Nastya and Kristina were recently adopted from the Ukraine, and this session took place 5 days after their arrival. They don’t speak much English yet, but their mom is home schooling them until they can start school in September. I never realized how much I talk when I photograph! I had to gesture a lot to make sure they understood what I was saying. To say that their adoption was a long process would be an understatement! They joined a big loving family here – new twin sisters and younger brother, plus two older brothers who couldn’t be there that day. We had a great time hanging out and playing. I was so honored to be able to capture images of this incredible week adding two new daughters to the family.

I wish I looked this cute at 11 and 12!!!

Gabriel wasn’t sure he wanted to share the attention with all the girls…

That’s OK – they didn’t want to sit with him anyway. I love that you can see Sara in the background after she ran away!

Here’s to the first day of summer! What are you doing this summer? Each June my kids write a list of their summer desires, and then we get some days scheduled to make sure we actually manage to cross some things off the list. Some are really easy, some require a little bit of planning on my part. This is part of the wish list so far…
